Still At the Hospital

Well I would like to report things are getting better, however, we seem to be running some bad luck. Drew is still not eating or drinking. He had a rough night in the hospital, and Tony only got 3 hours of sleep. They gave him some morphine today, and that seemed to ease his pain. On top of everything else, Jack has the flu and was sent home from daycare. Since I was with Jack last night I am considered contagious, and the nurses thought it would be best if I went home. Tony will have to stay at the hospital with Drew, until we are sure I didn't catch anything. We will have to begin the process of sterilizing the entire house again. Everything Jack and touch with be cleaned with Clorox Anywhere, which contains bleach. The floors, bathroom, bedrooms, kitchen will be disinfected. We need to make the house as germ free as possible, so if Drew comes home in the next couple days he doesn't catch anything. We are now entering the period of high risk, where Drew's counts will start to drop and he is more susceptible. God, if you can hear us, please give us a break. We could really use it. These kids don't deserve all this pain and suffering.

Tony and Heidi-

Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers daily. We are here for you if you need anything.

Tony and Heidi, the courage and strength you have shown over the past couple of weeks has surpassed anything I've ever seen (not to mention, brought me to tears many times). The two of you are tremendous parents, and Jack and Drew are so fortunate to have your positive energy in their lives at this difficult time. Stay strong, and remember with each day that passes, Drew is that much closer to getting better again.

We love you, and are here for you at any time of the day.

Heidi & Tony- Heidi- we've never met, but I used to work with Tony at Wells Fargo. I have always admired him and, happily, got a little insight into you and your family from afar. My heart goes out to you and I am impressed by the support and love that I am reading about on this blog. Please hang in as best you can and let the people who have offered their time and energy give both to you. You not only need to take care of Drew and Jack but you need to take care of yourselves to be strong for your boys and each other. I am truly in awe of your stamina and love and send every positive Southern California vibe I have your way. With love from San Diego

Tony and Heidi-

I just wanted to pass on a word of encouragement (however small and insignificant). I was reading your blog at school and one of my classmates, who is a pediatrician, sat down next to me and asked what I was reading--I told him about Drew and was showing him the photos. He looked over the pictures and said "What a strong, heathy-looking kid! He'll do really well."

As we were talking, another one of my classmates walked up (who also happens to be a pediatrician--I can't escape them!) and asked what we were looking at, so I explained and, without hesitation she said, "he is so cute and happy! He looks really healthy and strong--he's going to do well."

They both wanted me to let you know that you'll be in their thoughts and prayers--so you've got random people in Baltimore pulling for you.

Love-
Kristin (and Nick)
