A Much Needed Break Before A Big Week

This past week has been awesome, Jack and I were able to head up to my parents lake place to enjoy the 4th on the lake with plenty of fishing, tubing, swimming, etc……Heidi and Drew were able to head to Bob and Rose’s lake place to take advantage of the swimming pool and nice weather. Since Drew’s counts are lower than a normal child, he must only swim in chlorinated pools in order to prevent a bacterial infection. While this separation stuff has been our norm, it still gets you a down that you can’t always be together as a family.

This is a big week for Drew, he will have his eye exam under anesthesia and go in for chemo on Friday. Assuming that the eye exam comes back with favorable results (similar to the last two exams), this could be Drew’s last round. We are optimistic but cautious as this road is all too familiar. It’s sad to say but since we know the chemo is doing its job and there haven’t been any new tumors, parts of us doesn’t want to stop what has been working. We can only hope that this is where Drew turns the corner and we do nothing but look back on this as a bump in life’s journey.

Your continued thoughts and prayers are appreciated!

Drewbug, Good luck on Friday. We will be thinking of you and praying that this will be your last round of chemo and all those bad bumps are gone. You are such a strong little boy and we are so proud to have you in our lives. We love you and will say extra prayers for you this week.
