The Oncologist visited again today, and he felt it was best to put a feeding tube in Drew's nose. He needs nutrition to stay healthy through the rough part of the chemo. This is usually day 7 through 14 after treatment. This is when his counts are the lowest. Let's just say he was not a happy camper about the feeding tube. I tried to explain to him, if he would drink and eat we wouldn't have to do this. He is quite stubborn. I'm not sure where he gets that, but my parents have informed they have a good guess. I guess we are not very good at rationalizing with a 10 month old. I think he is going to be quite the negotiator, when he gets older.
The nurses felt pretty bad about the feeding tube incident. Especially after we just gave them a whole batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies. We have learned the way to their hearts is definitely through sweets. A little way we can repay them for taking such good care of Drew. Each day the give one child on the floor the Courage Award. Drew was the recipient of the award today. He got a little certificate and a prize for the gift bucket. It was the bright spot is a rough day.
He will need to stay in the hospital until be starts drinking and eating on his own. We are hoping to be out on Tuesday or Wednesday. We will update you, when we know more.

It is so difficult to watch this transpire from the computer knowing that you are having such a rough go. It sounds like Drew is getting some outstanding care which must be some relief in this whirlwind you have been put into. JP and I think and talk about you guys daily. Jon is also asking about Drew and wants you to know he hopes he gets better soon! He seems to think because Tony is his godfather that Jack and Drew are related to him?? :) Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with you and I have had my mom and dad add Drew to every prayer list they can find in Chicago! Hang in there and as always just give a call if there is ANYTHING we can do!
Heidi and Tony,
Hang in there! Things will only get better. Glad you still have a sense of humor. Drew and Jack are both so lucky to have you for parents. Let us know if there's any way we can help.
