Drew came home last night and it was definitely a joyous reunion. Jack and Drew were very happy to see each other. It was nice to have one family night.
Today Drew woke up with a fever. We called the oncologist, and they wanted to wait a few hours to see if the temp went up anymore. Mid-afternoon Drew's fever was 101.5. I took him into the Masonic Cancer Clinic and they gave him antibiotics. The doctors are not sure what is causing the fever, but took a urine sample to see if he has a virus. Each time he gets a fever they automatically treat is with antibiotics to prevent infection. Drew has a very low immune system, so he is unable to fight infection on his own.
During the visit to the cancer clinic they took blood to test his counts. Unfortunately Drew's red counts are low so he needs another blood transfusion. He will receive this tomorrow. In addition, his neutrophils are at 500, which is low. If his fever continues and his counts drop lower, he will have to be admitted back into the hospital. We are hoping we can avoid this, however, there is a high possibility he will go back in this weekend. All we can do is wait and see. Please continue to keep him in your prayers.

Heidi and Tony,
Our hearts go out to you. Our family is continuing to pray for your entire family every day. My drama ministry team at church prayed for you this week too. I hope Jack is enjoying his Veggie Tales; they're still a hit with Alex too.
That saying about how God never gives you more than you can handle is not always comforting or biblical. It's been used on me a few times too...But the bible promises us that God will never leave or forsake us and is faithful to us always. He has plans for Drew to give him hope and a future. Stand on those promises and know you are not alone in this. Many people, some of whom you've never met are praying on your behalf and that's a powerful thing; I am living proof of that... I will pray for God to renew your strength during this difficult time and hold you in the palm of His hand,
Maria and Jeff Douglas
